As we age, the collagen beneath the extra cellular matrix slowly disappears. Our skin loses its firmness and wrinkles appear. While looking for a safe collagen source, our scientists turned to marine collagen. They found they needed to expand the use of fish collagen and find a way to increase the strength of the gels made from fish gelatine. As they continued their research, they made a discovery that has revolutionised the skin care industry. Penta-peptides are the most efficient to penetrate the skin. Our peptide serum is a high concentration of plant-based penta-peptide. The peptides produce major stimulation of the synthesis of collagen. Also, in order to reverse the collagen loss in our skin we need to add collagen into the extra cellular matrix, but until this point it was impossible for the collagen to penetrate the skin. The scientists found that by mixing collagen from fish with another marine biopolymer from marine algae, a loose gel with a very high water content would result. They were then able to target a melting point of an emulsion to melt at the skin surface
This mixture is called “Smids”, a Nordic discovery. By adding Smids to our gels we are able to give the extra cellular matrix nourishment by adding collagen as well as moisture where it is needed.
